Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Fernando Alonso to Formula One next season with Renault (which will be rebranded Alpine) – and the Spaniard is clearly looking forward to once again competing in the pinnacle of motorsport.
In a recent interview with Auto Hebdo, Alonso – who won both of his World Championships with Renault – joked that team principal Cyril Abiteboul has already had enough of him.

“Just now I sent him three messages… about half an hour ago. I know he has read them, but he still hasn’t replied to me,” Alonso joked.
“I’m sure he’s starting to get tired of me, because he doesn’t answer my messages anymore!”
He also revealed that he has “always wanted to return to Formula One” and opened up on his last stint in the sport with McLaren.
“At McLaren everyone was surprised at how excited I was about Honda, and they thought I was happier than at Ferrari, although they also noticed my enthusiasm at Ferrari.
“I’ve always been like that, but many people don’t realise it until they work with me. I have always wanted to return to Formula 1,” Alonso added.
The Spaniard will partner Esteban Ocon at Alpine next year and will be hoping that the team can build on the string of strong results it has achieved this season.
