Eifel GP: Hulkenberg Or Vandoorne Set To Fill In For Stroll

Stroll missed the final free practice session of the weekend as he was feeling unwell.

Nico Hulkenberg is on stand-by to fill in for Lance Stroll, who missed FP3 after falling ill, for qualifying at the Nurburgring.

“Lance Stroll is not feeling 100% this morning and will therefore not participate in FP3,” Racing Point said on Saturday.

”His condition will be assessed after the session to evaluate whether he is fit to drive, at which point the team will confirm plans for quali.”

Hulkenberg has already arrived at the Nurburgring, but he will need to be tested for COVID-19 and get his result back in time for qualifying at the Eifel Grand Prix.

If Hulkenberg is not given the all clear in time and Stroll is still feeling unwell, Mercedes reserve driver Stoffel Vandoorne will reportedly be thrust into the deep end and be tasked with qualifying Stroll’s RP20.
