Dry And Warm Conditions Forecast For 2026 British Grand Prix Sprint Weekend At Silverstone

The 2026 British Grand Prix is set to take place this weekend at Silverstone, with weather conditions unusually favourable for a UK motorsport event.

Wet weather has historically played a major role at the British GP, with both the 2024 and 2025 races seeing disruption from rain at the Northamptonshire circuit.

This year, forecasters are predicting a remarkably dry and warm weekend, which will be a welcome relief for the hundreds of thousands of fans in attendance.

Silverstone marks the ninth round of the 2026 Formula 1 season, a campaign that has already delivered significant drama and excitement across the grid.

Lewis Hamilton heads into his home race hoping to claim an unprecedented 10th grand prix victory at the circuit where he already holds the record for wins.

Hamilton has enjoyed a strong resurgent 2026 season so far, having claimed one grand prix victory and three further podiums heading into the British round.

His championship rival George Russell will also be looking to make history of his own, chasing what would be his first ever home race victory at Silverstone.

Friday practice begins at 12:30pm BST with temperatures of 21 degrees Celsius, zero per cent chance of rain, and wind speeds of around 10mph expected throughout the day.

Sprint qualifying follows at 4:30pm on Friday, with temperatures rising to 24 degrees Celsius and humidity sitting at a comfortable 38 per cent, again with no rain forecast.

Sunday’s British Grand Prix, with lights out at 3pm, is forecast to see 25 degrees Celsius, zero per cent chance of rain, and 13mph winds blowing in from the Northamptonshire hills.

Humidity on race day will sit at 47 per cent, which could play a small role in tyre management decisions throughout the 52-lap grand prix.

The dry forecast is particularly notable given Hamilton’s comments heading into the weekend, with the Ferrari driver joking that it “could snow” at a British summer race.

Fans positioned along the Hamilton Straight or in the Landostand at Silverstone can expect a warm and sunny weekend across all three days of action.
