Christian Horner makes admission about Daniel Ricciardo joining AlphaTauri

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has made an admission about Daniel Ricciardo returning to sister team AlphaTauri.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has hinted that Daniel Ricciardo could potentially find a seat at AlphaTauri next season.

With Ricciardo not having a team for the 2023 championship, Formula 1 fans expressed disappointment worldwide.

Known for his impressive performances both on and off the track, the 33-year-old Australian currently serves as a test and reserve driver for Red Bull following the premature termination of his McLaren contract last year.

However, the wait for Ricciardo’s return to the grid might not be prolonged, as Horner revealed that AlphaTauri could be a viable destination for him.

When asked about the possibility of Ricciardo joining AlphaTauri next season, Horner stated, “Well, it’s still very early days, you know, for next year, and I think that Daniel is under contract for the year.

“He’s going to be driving our car for the first time after the British Grand Prix [as part of a three-day test], and he’s obviously a world-class driver.

“He’s won what, seven [eight, sic] grands prix in his career to date?

“So I think the first thing will be to see how he performs and where his motivation is, and then from there, it’s a question for AlphaTauri as to, you know, their choices for the following season.”

The future of Daniel Ricciardo remains uncertain as he fulfils his role as a test and reserve driver for Red Bull.

However, Horner’s comments suggest that the Australian’s performance and motivation during the upcoming test sessions will play a significant role in determining his potential next steps in Formula 1.

With Ricciardo’s track record of winning multiple Grand Prix races, his talent and experience make him an attractive prospect for teams seeking a skilled driver.

While Ricciardo’s contract situation unfolds, AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s sister team, faces an important decision regarding their driver lineup for the following season.

Ricciardo’s proven track record and reputation as a world-class driver make him a valuable asset for any team, including AlphaTauri.
