Breaking: Haas launch protest against Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez

Sergio Perez finished the race in P4, while Fernando Alonso came home in seventh position.

The Haas F1 Team have launched a protest against the finishing result of Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez at the 2022 United States Grand Prix.

The American team filed the protest after the race due to neither driver being shown the black and orange flag.

Their driver, Kevin Magnussen, has been shown the flag and forced to pit on a number of occasions this season due to him suffering front-wing damage.

Both Alonso and Perez suffered such damage at the 2022 United States Grand Prix, but neither driver was ordered to make a pitstop by the FIA.

As such, Haas are aggrieved and are looking for them to be hit with a penalty to help their drivers move up the order and be awarded more points.

Perez finished the race in P4, while Alonso crossed the finish line in seventh position despite suffering a horrific accident with the Aston Martin of Lance Stroll.

The Red Bull driver suffered damage early in the race, and the front-wing endplate that was hanging quickly fell off.

Despite the loss of aerodynamic performance, Red Bull opted not to change Perez’s front wing when he pitted, and the Mexican had a relatively strong grand prix considering his misfortune.
