Sebastian Vettel’s debut race weekend with Aston Martin was one to forget, with him only qualifying P18 and subsequently being demoted to the back of the grid for a yellow flag infringement.

The 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix itself was frustrating for Vettel, with his AMR21 not being as competitive as he would have liked and him picking up a ten-second penalty for crashing into the back of Esteban Ocon into turn one.

In addition to the time penalty, Vettel was awarded two penalty points on his Super Licence, just a few hours after he was given three penalty points for the aforementioned yellow flag infringement in qualifying.

If Vettel accrues 12 penalty points in a 12-month period, he will automatically be hit with a one-race ban.

“It was a race full of struggle. We’ll speak after,” Vettel said on the team radio after finishing P15 in the race.

Vettel was seen speaking to Ocon after the grand prix, almost certainly about the collision which hurt both of their races.
