Racing Bulls Formula 1 driver Arvid Lindblad has passed his UK driving theory test, but his hazard perception score has drawn widespread ridicule from fans online.
The 19-year-old posted on his Instagram stories confirming he had passed, captioning the photo with “easy dub,” though his scores told a rather more complicated story.
Lindblad scored 46 out of 50 in the multiple choice section, which required a minimum of 43 to pass, dropping marks on vulnerable road users, motorway rules, road and traffic signs, and safety.
His hazard perception score was far more alarming, managing just 52 out of a possible 75, when only 44 were needed to pass the section.
Perhaps most embarrassingly for a professional racing driver, Lindblad scored zero points on one of the hazard perception video clips shown during the test.
Social media users were quick to point out the irony of an F1 driver barely scraping through a test designed to assess awareness of road dangers.
One user on X wrote “easy dub and he did worse than me when i failed my first time,” while another said “Kinda expected full marks from the professional driver ngl.”
A third commenter expressed outright disbelief, writing “BROTHER 52 OUT OF 75???”, and another questioned his credentials entirely, saying “52/75 on hazard perception… And he’s in F1. Wow.. there’s a liability.”
Lindblad has been a junior driver for Red Bull since 2021, making his full F1 debut with Racing Bulls this year at just 18 years of age, having first driven an F1 car during practice at the British Grand Prix the previous year.
The FIA granted Lindblad his Super License as a 17-year-old following a request from Red Bull, though no such shortcuts exist for a standard UK driving licence, meaning he must now pass his practical test within two years to earn his full licence.
