The famous Raikkonen name could be set to return to Formula 1, this time through the next generation, as Red Bull eyes an exciting new signing.
According to a report from RacingNews365, Red Bull are set to sign 11-year-old Robin Raikkonen to their prestigious junior programme, with an official announcement expected soon.
Robin is the son of 2007 F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, who enjoyed one of the most celebrated careers in the sport’s modern history.
The elder Raikkonen competed across 353 grands prix between 2001 and 2021, recording 349 starts, 21 race victories, and one world championship title across that period.
Now 46 years old, the Finn drove for several major teams during his career, including McLaren, Ferrari, and Lotus, before retiring after a three-year stint with Alfa Romeo.
The speculation surrounding Robin’s potential signing was only amplified when Kimi Raikkonen was pictured inside the Red Bull garage during the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Monza.
Raikkonen was spotted chatting with Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies inside the garage as the team made their final preparations ahead of the race.
Far from being a discreet visit, it was Red Bull’s own social media team that captured and shared the moment, openly fuelling speculation about the junior deal.
