Sergio Perez Says He Would Definitely Accept Red Bull Offer

The Mexican reportedly signed a “preliminary contract” with Haas last week, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Sergio Perez, who is currently without an F1 drive for the 2021 season, has said he would definitely accept an offer to join Red Bull Racing, as he believes they will have a car capable of fighting for the Championship over the next few years.

“Without a doubt. It is a team that is definitely going to fight for Championships in the coming years,” Perez said after the Russian Grand Prix.

He reiterated that he is yet to make a decision about his future, despite it previously being reported that he had signed a “preliminary contract” with the Haas F1 team.

“Nothing has been signed yet, but there is some progress. Let’s see how things go. Neither myself nor the teams are in any rush, so let’s wait a bit.”

As Formula1News.co.uk managing editor Suliman Mulhem discussed in an opinion piece published earlier this month, Perez is a strong candidate for Alex Albon’s seat, should Red Bull choose to replace him for 2021.

However, the odds of Perez joining Red Bull are fairly slim, with the team repeatedly saying it has a strong preference for drivers from its existing pool of talent.
