Pierre Gasly had a very strong 2020 campaign and he was undoubtedly disappointed not to be given another shot at Red Bull.

Pierre Gasly has seemingly managed to turn his career around, with the Frenchman exceeding expectations since returning to Scuderia AlphaTauri (or Toro Rosso as it was previously called) in the middle of the 2019 F1 season.

Despite this turnaround, it still looks unlikely that Gasly will ever be given another shot at Red Bull, and it was previously speculated that he could move to Alpine once Fernando Alonso decides to retire from Formula One for good.

However, Franz Tost, the team principal of Scuderia AlphaTauri, said he doesn’t believe “Red Bull will release him any time soon” even if there is strong interest from other teams.

“When a driver is as competitive as Pierre, other teams will naturally come and ask about the contractual details,” Tost said.

“They all want to know if and when a driver is available. But he has a contract with Red Bull and I don’t think Red Bull will release him any time soon.

“They have invested a lot of money in him and sooner or later they want to reap the benefits, get good results, win races and also championships. We’ll see,” he added.

Continuing, the Austrian suggested he believes that Gasly can help Scuderia AlphaTauri build a more competitive car and work their way up the F1 pecking order.

”He is now an experienced driver, and also a successful one. Every team is built around a successful driver.

“What does that mean? It means that the team listens to the technical feedback from the driver, he influences the new design of the car.

“Let me put it another way: the designers and engineers take into account the feedback from such a good driver. That car then suits his driving style more, that is the way it goes,” Tost concluded.
