Mick Schumacher & Raikkonen Will Drive For Alfa Romeo In 2021 – Marko

Previous reports suggested that Schumacher and Raikkonen would be confirmed by Alfa Romeo ahead of the Eifel GP.

Alfa Romeo’s 2021 driver line-up will consist of Kimi Raikkonen and Mick Schumacher, according to Helmut Marko, the head of Red Bull’s driver development programme.

The Austrian said this line-up would be an “excellent combination” of youth and experience, with Raikkonen recently breaking the record for the most F1 grand prix starts and Schumacher currently topping the Formula Two standings.

“You can see which drivers are still on the market. I know who has called who. From this I gather that Mick Schumacher will drive together with Kimi Raikkonen for Alfa Romeo next year,” Marko said in a recent interview.

“If you look at the junior categories, he [Mick Schumacher] always started modestly and then in the second year was in top form. You can assume that it will be the same in Formula 1.”

Earlier, amid reports that Raikkonen was poised to sign a contract extension with Alfa Romeo, the Finn insisted that he had not yet made a decision about his future.

“Nothing’s been decided so far,” Raikkonen told reporters.

“We’ll see. Obviously we have some talks with the team. It’s my decision in the end and we’ll see what it comes to.”

Continuing, he clarified: “I never had an option in my contract so I can tell you that it’s not true. I haven’t signed anything last week, a month ago or yesterday or today, so we’ll see.”
