Haas Will Announce Two-Year Deal With Mazepin Once Super Licence Issued

The Russian driver has been strongly linked with a move to the Haas F1 Team.

Haas will announce Nikita Mazepin as one of its drivers for the 2021 Formula One season once he is issued a Super Licence, according to reports.

The Italian edition of Motorsport.com reports that it “seems certain” Mazepin will be driving for Haas next season.

Specifically, the media outlet claims he will join Haas on a two-year deal, replacing either Romain Grosjean or Kevin Magnussen.

“Everything suggests the Haas-Mazepin negotiation is in fact finalised, but for the announcement we will most likely have to wait for the official release of a Super Licence to the Russian driver,” the report reads.

Mazepin is currently sixth in the Formula Two standings and is in a good position to qualify for a Super Licence at the end of the season.

Additionally, the publication reports that “the number one candidate for the second car is Mick Schumacher” despite the German being linked very strongly with a move to Alfa Romeo next year.

Both Haas and Alfa Romeo are Ferrari customer teams, and it’s widely believed that at least one member of the Ferrari Driver Academy – most likely Mick Schumacher – will join one of these teams next year.
