Lewis Hamilton, who took pole position for the Russian Grand Prix on Saturday, is being investigated by the FIA for a track limits infringement which occurred in the first segment of qualifying.
Both Haas drivers – Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen – plus Nicholas Latifi, are also being investigated for the same track limits infringement.

When asked if he knows why he’s under investigation, Hamilton said, “I have no idea what that is. But there’s always going to be something isn’t there?”
It appears the drivers are being investigated for exceeding track limits at turn two and not returning to the circuit by going through the blocks on the side of the corner, as the FIA has demanded drivers do to ensure they return to the track in a safe fashion.
“Each time any car fails to negotiate turn two by using the track, and who passes to the left of, or has any part of the car over the first orange kerb element prior to the apex, or to the left of the orange apex sausage at turn two, must then re-join the track by driving around the array of blocks as indicated by the arrows before the re-joining the track at turn three,” the track limits guidance issued for turn two at Sochi stipulates.
